The environmentally interactive architectural glass interlayer lightens and darkens by itself—with no mechanical intervention—according to changing levels of ambient temperature and sunlight. The patented system darkens gradually in response to rising temperatures caused by direct sunlight and then cools as the sun moves across the sky, returning to a clear, neutral state in cloudy or dark conditions.

As part of a dynamic window system, the glass can help manage a building’s changing needs for passive solar gain, solar control and natural daylight transmittance. Ultimately, lowering costs associated with heating, air conditioning and artificial lighting.
