Urban Renewal: Chandler City Hall featured in the Spring 2013 issue of High Performing Buildings

innovationChandlerCity hallThe Chandler, Arizona City Hall is spurring development, seeding urban renewal, and attracting pedestrians back to a previously deteriorating downtown, while operating with an annual energy use intensity of 57 kBtu/ft2. The Chandler City Hall case study is one of several examples in this month’s issue of High Performing Buildings demonstrating how sustainable design and operation impact the broader community.

The as-designed Chandler City Hall site including both the north and south buildings will achieve approximately 34.1% in annual utility savings per year as compared to a minimally compliant ASHRAE 90.1-2004 building. With the additional on site renewables, a solar photovoltaic system, the project achieves energy cost savings of 44.1%.
