Fort Hood

Fort Hood, located in Killeen, TX is one of the largest military posts in the world.  Throughout its existence, Fort Hood has played a major role in the training, testing and introduction of new equipment, tactics and organizations.  The base stretches across 108,000 acres and contains administration buildings, barracks and other residential lodging, maintenance buildings, and other service and dining facilities.

Quest Energy Group worked as part of the Johnson Controls team to perform an Investment Grade Audit for Fort Hood which consisted of detailed analysis of 30 buildings across the base.  Quest produced comprehensive energy models for each of the buildings, and then worked to calibrate the models to real utility data.  Energy savings measures include: HVAC controls, supply air reset, hot water reset, boiler replacement, and cooling system replacement.  These measures were input into the model to determine potential savings.  In addition to using this data for the buildings that were modeled, these results were extrapolated to determine savings strategies for similar buildings based on space sizes and usages.  Based on all suggested energy savings measures, Fort Hood has the potential to reduce their energy use by 18% of their original base consumption.
