Rio Salado Audubon Center

The Rio Salado Audubon Center is an Interpretive Center / Nature Center developed by the National Audubon Society in partnership with the City of Phoenix strategically located in the multi-cultural heart of the City to provide nature-based education to the most urban residential neighborhoods. The project includes an integrated 20 kW photovoltaic solar system that generates approximately 50% of the energy needed for the Center’s operation. Waste water is treated through an innovative on-site treatment system allowing for all treated water to be utilized on-site for landscape irrigation.

Quest Energy Group worked with the design to integrate energy efficient measures throughout the design process and was responsible for energy modeling, completing an M&V plan, and fundamental commissioning for the building. Quest completed the LEED documentation for energy credits related to energy optimization. This project achieved all ten of the energy optimization credits and all three of the available renewable energy credits. This building is able to achieve 50% utility cost savings over an ASHRAE baseline building.
